Description
Description
The gudgeons are what your rudder head hangs on, and they take every load the blade puts through the transom. Allen makes the original ILCA pattern in high strength plastic, and the same part fits both the top and the bottom position.
Plastic is the right call here. It will not corrode, it will not set up electrolysis against the fittings around it, and it gives slightly under shock load instead of working the transom. Worn gudgeons show up as side to side play in the rudder head, which you feel as vagueness in the tiller long before anything actually breaks.
The pin hole takes standard ILCA pintles and the fixing holes sit on 110.9 mm centres. Screws are not included, and a boat takes two.
