Description
The A8606 is Allen's 6 mm dogbone, a tiny CNC machined aluminium barrel that has quietly taken over the control systems on modern dinghies. Splice a Dyneema loop around it and you have a soft shackle or a rope stop with no metal shackle to bang about, no knot to slip, and almost no weight.
Allen's triple cut-out shape is the clever bit: the rope beds into the tapers and the raised ridges between them stop it sliding off, so it holds without crushing the line. Cross holes at each end take a leash, and the recessed end lets the leash knot sit flush. On an ILCA it is perfect for the primary outhaul line to hook on your shock cord.
Takes 2 to 4 mm line, 600 kg breaking load, 350 kg working. Anodised for corrosion resistance and picked here in five colours so you can code your controls. 24 mm long, 1 g.
