Description
The Pop Off UJ® is a lightweight Universal Joint (UJ) with a clever release: it holds the tiller extension firmly while you sail, then pops off in seconds so you can take the extension home and leave less on the boat in the dinghy park. Less time mounted also means a longer life for the joint.
It uses the standard 32 mm hole-centre spacing found on most ILCA and Laser UJ bases, so there is usually no need to drill new holes, and it fits tiller extensions with a 13 mm internal-diameter insert. The Dyneema® construction stays easy to handle when it is wet, cold, or you are wearing gloves.
This is the rope-core version. The internal rope core adds a safety link, so if the joint ever fails the extension is far less likely to go over the side.
