5 Father's Day presents that will quietly be useful to you too 😉

5 Father's Day presents that will quietly be useful to you too 😉

Father's Day is coming on 21 June 2026.

Of course, you could buy socks.
You could buy another mug that says "World's Best Dad."
You could even write a heartfelt card and quietly forget that he is the one who drives the trailer, reverses it down the slipway in one go, and somehow always knows where the missing shackle went.

But maybe this year, we do something smarter.

At LiveWatersports, we think the best Father's Day gifts are the ones that actually get used. Especially for sailing dads, rib dads, trailer dads and shore-team captains.

So here are 5 Father's Day presents he will love, and yes, a few of them might quietly turn out to be useful to you too.

1. Tie-Down Straps, ILCA and Optimist

Nothing ruins a sailing weekend faster than watching the hull shift on the trailer at 120 on the motorway. These straps are built for exactly that fear. Swedish-quality black PP webbing, a seriously strong cast cam buckle, and a wide protective tongue sewn under the buckle so the strap never marks the hull. The ILCA pack runs 6 m per strap, the Optimist pack 4.5 m, both sized for the boat, both in packs of two.

Give dad the gift of never again trusting that suspicious frayed strap from the back of the garage.

2. Magnetic Race Kit, 18-Piece Set

Every sailing dad has Opinions about who had right of way at that mark. The Magnetic Race Kit is how he proves it. Our best seller, an 18-piece set with start and finish ships, eight marks, wind and current indicators and a handful of little boats, all magnetised for any whiteboard or table.

Coaches use it for briefings, juries use it in the protest room, and dads use it to finally explain the racing rules of sailing to anyone who will listen. Comes with a small spare kit, because pieces always go missing.

3. 60L Waterproof Duffel Bag 2026, Black Edition, Ripper Sailing

New for 2026 and now in a very sharp black. The 60L Waterproof Duffel Bag from Ripper Sailing is EU-made, fully waterproof, and big enough for the wetsuit, boots, towel, spare layers and all the "just in case" gear. The updated model adds a front and rear pocket and a proper carrying system: reinforced handles, an adjustable shoulder strap and integrated backpack straps.

Boat park, rib, airport, regatta morning. It handles all of it. Fair warning: the rest of the family will try to borrow it.

4. Mens Stretch Fast Dry Deck Pants, Zhik

There is a moment, after the boat is rigged and before the start gun, when a sailing dad gets to stand on the pontoon and look like he absolutely knows what he is doing. These are the trousers for that moment. Zhik's 4-way stretch softshell moves with him, the PFC-free XWR coating sheds spray, and they dry fast with a UPF 50+ rating for the sunny days. Belt loops, a D-ring and zippered pockets keep the essentials close.

Smart enough for the club bar, technical enough for the deck. To be worn proudly when he is not helping you rig your boat.

5. Ceramic Mini Foldable Knife, Rubytec

Small, clever and weirdly addictive to carry. The Rubytec Ceramic Mini Foldable Knife lives in a pocket or kit bag and comes out far more often than expected: trimming Dyneema to length, cutting through a hopelessly over-tightened knot, opening a stubborn packet of new fittings, or just slicing an apple at the boat park. The ceramic blade stays sharp and hygienic, and it folds away safely.

Every sailing dad wants to be the one who always has the right tool. This is how he becomes the dad who can cut through any knot.

Don't forget Father's Day, 21 June 2026

Father's Day does not need to be complicated.

For sailing dads, rib dads, trailer dads and shore-team captains, the best gifts are usually the ones that actually get used.

Give him something practical.
Give him something that works around the water.
Give him something that says: "Thanks for always reversing the trailer."

And maybe, just maybe, give him something you can quietly borrow when he is not looking.

Because life feels better on the water 💦
