Who is MadMounts?
MadMounts is a small team of racing sailors who also happen to be specialists in 3D design and printing. They race all year round: dinghies, keelboats, cats and boards in summer, iceboats in winter, land yachts in the months in between.
That breadth shows in the range. There is a MadMounts mount for dozens of classes, from the Optimist and RS Aero to the 470, Dragon, Etchells, J/70 and SB20, each one designed around how that boat is actually sailed rather than adapted from a generic bracket.
MadMounts is an official Vakaros partner and produces in both Europe and North America, which keeps shipping and import costs down for European sailors. The stock we carry is made in Italy.
Every mount is printed in industrial-grade filament, and the strength comes from how that filament is laid down during printing. That is also why MadMounts asks you not to drill them: a hole interrupts exactly the structure that carries the load.
The Protection Bundle, in LiveWatersports blue and white
This is the one we are proudest of. Together with MadMounts we made a LiveWatersports edition of their Protection Bundle: the case in blue or white, with LiveWatersports on the side.

The ILCA Pro Mount
The ILCA Pro is a deck mount for your Vakaros Atlas, built for the position in front of the mast that ILCA class management specified at the most recent Worlds. It is light and stiff, and shaped to deflect other boats' mainsheets when you tack and gybe in close quarters.
An integrated bungee preventer runs through a tunnel on top and ties off around the mast. It stops your own mainsheet from slipping between mast and mount, and adds extra hold-down.

- Skirted base hides the supplied 3M Dual Lock, so the mount sits flush on the deck

Frequently asked questions
Do MadMounts fit both the Atlas 2 and the Atlas Edge?
Yes. Both instruments share the same 115 x 88 x 15 mm body, so the ILCA Pro Mount, the Protection Bundle and the other MadMounts mounts fit either one.
Can I charge my Vakaros wirelessly with the MadMounts case on?
Yes. The Protection Bundle case lets you charge on a Qi pad without taking it off.
Does the screen saver affect readability or the buttons?
No. The tempered glass is low glare and works with polarised sunglasses, and laser-cut cutouts leave every button working exactly as before.
Do I need a VK diamond for the ILCA Pro Mount?
No. The MadMounts quick release is built into the ILCA Pro, so the Atlas clicks straight onto the mount.
Can I drill holes in a MadMounts mount to make it fit?
MadMounts advises against it. The strength comes from the orientation of the printed filament, and a drill hole weakens the mount.
Is a Vakaros instrument allowed in ILCA racing?

How do I look after the case and mount?
If you sail in salt water, rinse both with fresh water after sailing, and don't let salt build up between your Atlas and the case.
