Description

The top vang block on an ILCA takes more load than anything else on the boat, and most blocks give up long before the sailor does. Allen built this one with the vang key machined into the body, so there is no shackle, no rope strop and no wasted length in the system.

That matters twice over. The key cannot work loose, and the shorter overall length keeps your full vang range intact. Underneath sits Allen's XHL bearing system: twin rows of stainless steel ball bearings on a stainless axle, backed by a plain bearing PEEK washer. The washer carries the static load so the ball bearings keep running freely even when you are fully powered up.

The result is a block that stays easy to pull on in a breeze. Sailors struggling to get enough vang on to depower the MkII rig usually find this solves it outright, and some remove a purchase from the system entirely because it runs so freely.

Developed with International Moth sailors for extreme loads, then adapted for the ILCA on feedback from top class sailors. Made in the UK, guaranteed for life against manufacturing defects.
