A small component that makes a big difference in protecting your ILCA or Laser mast step.
The Rooster Mast Teflon Disc is designed to sit inside the mast step at the bottom of the mast hole. This thin disc acts as a protective buffer between the mast and the hull, helping to absorb grit, sand, and debris that can otherwise cause abrasion over time.
By reducing direct contact between the mast base and the hull, the disc helps prevent unnecessary wear in the mast step area, one of the most sensitive and heavily loaded points of the boat.
The soft Teflon material traps and holds grit, preventing it from grinding into the hull. For optimal performance, the disc should be removed regularly and cleaned.
For ILCA sailors, this type of protection aligns with permitted mast step protection solutions such as thin discs placed in the bottom of the mast step to reduce abrasion.
