VORTEX Line Block 40 mm – PolarWave

The PolarWave VORTEX Line 40 mm is a single-piece side-cheek block for high-load controls where every gram counts. On performance keelboats and bigger boats it works on mainsheet systems, mast base turning points and vangs, and it is just as much at home in a heavily loaded dinghy vang.

Body and sheave are both machined from marine-grade anodised aluminium, so the block stays stiff under load and holds up in salt water. Inside runs a new bearing system developed in-house by PolarWave, with PEEK roller bearings and zirconia ceramic side elements. The ceramic side elements cut friction when the block is loaded from the side, so the sheave keeps turning freely when the line doesn't come in square.

At 51 g it carries a 1.1 tonne working load, and the stainless steel rivet core, also developed by PolarWave, takes it to a 3 tonne breaking load. That makes it a compact alternative to a much bulkier block where load is high but space and weight are tight.
