Introducing Sailteck at LiveWatersports

Introducing Sailteck at LiveWatersports

Every now and then a product lands on our desk that genuinely changes the way we look at racing. The Sailteck Race Compass is one of those moments.

Today we are proud to introduce a new addition to the LiveWatersports range: Sailteck®.

We are starting with the Sailteck Race Compass, with the Sailteck GPS Compass following in the coming weeks.

A French-engineered, class-legal racing compass already trusted by world champions, and now available across Europe through LiveWatersports, with fast delivery from the Netherlands.

A brand built by sailors, in Brittany

At LiveWatersports we carefully select the brands we bring to our platform. Every product needs to earn its place on the water, not just on the shelf.

Sailteck earned it.

Designed and manufactured in Brittany, France, Sailteck has built its reputation on one obsession: making the single most accurate, most readable and most reliable race compass in the world.

It is used at the highest level of dinghy racing, from Olympic-class athletes to club racers who simply want clear data when the rain is sideways and the start sequence is running.

Performance first. Always.

What makes the Sailteck Race Compass different

The Race Compass is a no-compromise instrument. Heading, countdown and time of day, all on one display, at the same time.

Key features:

  • Genuine 1° heading accuracy. Not just 1° resolution. Most compasses display to 1° but repeat the same wrong number. Sailteck specifies and delivers actual 1° accuracy.
  • No recalibration needed. The solid-state magnetic sensor is not affected by transport. Out of the bag, on the boat, racing.
  • Two-line display. Countdown and heading in view, before and after the start.
  • 30 mm super-bold digits. Readable from a hiking strap, a trapeze wire, or through polaroid sunglasses.
  • Three-button countdown. GO starts it. Left and right adjust the minutes, even while the countdown is running.
  • Solar powered. A high-efficiency solar panel and 200 hours of battery backup. Forget the charging cable.
  • Submersible to 20 metres. Floats. Triple shock protection. Built with a one-piece toughened transparent front.
  • Two-year warranty from the date of purchase.

Supplied with a corrosion-free soft pack and a quick-release cradle in the box.

Class legal for ILCA, Optimist, Finn and many more

This is the part that matters for racing sailors.

The Sailteck Race Compass is class legal and permitted in many of the dinghy classes we serve every day, including:

Whether it is an ILCA 4 European qualifier, an Optimist club Sunday, or a Finn Masters circuit weekend, you can mount the Sailteck and race within class rules.

Why the two-line display matters

Most race compasses force you to choose. Watch the heading. Or watch the countdown. Never both.

Sailteck removed the compromise.

  • Before the start: countdown and heading are visible together. You know where the line is favoured and how much time you have to get there.
  • After the start: the tactical shift indicator and the live heading sit side by side. Upwind you play the shifts. Downwind you stay on the lifted gybe. Eyes stay on the boat.

For sailors used to switching screens at the worst possible moment, this is a real step forward.

Coming next: the Sailteck GPS Compass

The Race Compass is the start. The full picture comes in the next weeks with the Sailteck GPS Compass (SK02).

The GPS Compass keeps everything the Race Compass does and adds:

  • Speed over ground
  • Heel and trim
  • Line distance to the start line
  • Bluetooth sensor support
  • High-precision GPS, RTK-capable
  • Interchangeable keymats (red and grey keys) for different class rules
  • Support for Sailteck LIVE®, the new track-sharing and race management system launching November 2026

It is the closest thing dinghy racing has to a full performance instrument that is still class-friendly and Olympic-grade clean on the boat.

The GPS Compass arrives at LiveWatersports in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on this page. We will announce the moment it goes live.

Mounting it on your boat

The Sailteck Race Compass ships with a race cradle so you can swap it between boats. We stock the full Sailteck mounting range for the classes we serve:

  • SK04 Mast bracket and strap: fits all mast types
  • SK05 Mast bracket extenders: optimised for the 29er
  • SK06 Deck / Pole bracket: Dual Lock adhesive, designed for ILCAs and many other classes, also takes spinnaker pole adaptors (in the box)
  • SK07 Nose cone for the deck / pole bracket

Not sure which mount is right for your class? Send us a WhatsApp and we will guide you to the correct setup.

Why Sailteck fits LiveWatersports

We build our range around performance dinghy sailing, with a strong focus on:

Sailteck complements the ecosystem we are building alongside Rooster, Optimast, Zhik, Ripper, Robline and others.

Where some brands focus on lifestyle, Sailteck focuses on decisions made on the water: the start, the first shift, the lay line, the gybe set. The moments where one number on a clear display changes the race.

That makes Sailteck a natural fit.

Frequently asked questions

Is it allowed in the Optimist class?

Yes. The Sailteck Race Compass is permitted and class legal in the Optimist class.

What about Finn, Topper and 29er?
